In 1984, we opened the Queen's Berth remote control boat attraction at the Disneyland Hotel.
At the time, the Disneyland Hotel operated the real Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. The decision was made, therefore, to construct a custom 1/70 scale model of the Queen to be used as a centerpiece for the new attraction.
After a number of months in development and construction, it was time to christen the miniature Queen before putting her into the water. The launching party was attended by the Disneyland Hotel executive staff, the local news media as well as the Captain of the real Queen Mary.
